Introducing Our Refreshed Vision, Values and Behaviour Approach
Dear Parents and Carers,
At New Haw Community School, we are committed to creating a happy, inclusive and inspiring environment where every child can thrive. Following consultation with staff, parents and pupils, alongside educational research including the work of behaviour specialist, Paul Dix, we have refreshed our vision, values and behaviour approach. More information can be found below.
Our refreshed Vision, Values and Rules:

This vision reflects our belief that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, supported and challenged.
Our values reflect the kind of people we aspire to be, while our rules guide the actions and choices that help us live those values every day.
What Great Looks Like at New Haw
Our, 'What Great Looks Like at New Haw' learning behaviours provide a shared language for pupils and staff about the positive behaviours we want to see every day. Children will hear staff referring to these regularly.
Rewards and Recognition
The children have helped us consider how positive behaviour should be recognised and celebrated. While this work continues, pupils will continue to receive Team Points for demonstrating our values and the behaviours that make New Haw a positive place to learn. Do also keep your eyes peeled for our positivity postcards coming home too.
Our New Behaviour Code System
Alongside our positive approach, we have introduced a new Behaviour Code System to provide clear and consistent support when behaviour falls below expectations. The purpose of this system is not to punish, but to help children reflect, take responsibility, restore the desired behaviour and move forward successfully. A key feature of the approach is that children can reset their code by demonstrating the expected behaviour and making positive choices.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. By working together, we can ensure every child experiences happiness and learning which is at the heart of New Haw Community School.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs Cahill and Mrs Linnegar
Executive Head and Head of School
