Year 5 Blog - Week Commencing 29th February 2016
It has been another week of exciting experiences for Year 5 as Mexicolore came to visit! This interactive workshop aimed to offer children a chance to explore Mexico and its rich history; this involved learning about the culture and customs of the Maya and Aztec people, their legacy and how modern day Mexico has been influenced by these significant periods of time. Ian, our guide, used artwork, genuine artefacts and replicas of objects from the time to bring this to life and gave lots of opportunities for the children to dress up and become immersed in the history. His presentation style was very engaging and he had the whole year group chanting, cheering and playing musical instruments in time to a traditional rubber-band ball game which some children played. Excellent!
