5H Music Day!
Year 5 use percussion instruments to interpret music patterns.
In 5H on Monday we had music day. We looked at cyclical patterns in music focussing on rhythm. We used drums, bells and shakers to play accompaniment to some African songs and we also learned to sing a song in an African language! We then worked in groups to compose our own pieces of music containing cyclical patterns. We played them on a variety of percussion instruments and used our own notation so that we knew when to play our instruments. At the end, each group performed their pieces to the rest of the class and we gave each other feedback about how to make them even better.
