Learning about the heart in year 6!

Science brought to life with modelling clay!

This half term in Science, Year 6 have been looking at the circulatory system (the way blood travels around our body).

This week, we made our very own models of the heart using red and blue modelling clay! The red clay was used to show oxygenated blood (which is transported round the body to our muscles) and the blue clay represented deoxygenated blood (which goes back to the lungs to pick up some more oxygen). We then labelled our hearts with the different parts and their functions. It was really fun being able to hold the clay and make a 3D model of the heart as we could see how the different parts linked together in three dimensions!
